This book will take you on a journey through the Soldiers eyes. You will see the transformation of the Soldier's character from ordinary E4 Specialist to war fighting, "get'er done" type of Soldier who has a difficult time shutting off the combat war mindset. The Soldier story will show how 6 years at war "4 tours to Iraq" lead to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder "PTSD", and how he had to fight for three years to get medical treatment from the United States Army. The readers will see and learn the three types of PTSD group sessions the Soldier was involved in and what he has learned from it. The stories will take you on a journey on how difficult it can be when a war veteran retires from the Army and has a difficult time dealing with civilian life and lack of family structure and support and not to mention jobs. The Book will show that despite the struggles from war and difficult time adjusting to civilian life, the Soldier never resorted to street drugs or the high volume of prescription drugs, and never indulged in alcohol. The Soldier's soul was lost but by God's Great Mercy, the Soldier found Salvation through Jesus Christ. The Soldier still takes it one day at a time to adjust to civilian life and learn how to be Jocephus Duckworth and not Staff Sergeant Duckworth.

Happens that I know the author and he's such a nice guy and very inspirational hoe despite all of his challenges he always see the positive in the dark. Great stories and experiences in his book. I enjoy reading it and learning about the perspectives of our service men and women and their struggle to find themselves in the civil world after years in the military service, sure makes me feel more appreciative of their efforts. The Soldier Story The Invisible Wounds from War Jocephus J Duckworth 9781535603362 Books Reviews
Jocephus is an outstanding man, I had the pleasure of meeting him. Truly one of the most interesting people I've ever met, with stories to melt your heart. I highly recommend this book.
I can't pick my head up from this book. It is a great read. Truly gretaful for this man's service to our country.
I'm deeply honored to be reading this book. SSG. Duckworth was one of My Squad leaders. It takes a great deal of courage to write about one's experiences in the manner that this book is written and I for one would recommend this book to anyone that may either be dealing with their own PTSD or those that wish to know about PTSD and what its like living with it.
This book brought a greater understanding for me PTSD and the most difficult journey soldiers and families endure. It is raw in nature and sometimes a bit rough to read but in the end I felt more empathy for the flight of returning Vets.
Be it a friend or a family member of a Vet I think this would help to bring more insight in what a solider faces when they return to civilian life. Hopefully it will help other Vets to understand they are not alone and others face similar issues. I certainly applaud the restraint SSG Duckworth used in many of his encounters once back in the States. A reminder that courage comes in many forms and actions.
never received this book
I served together with SSG Duckworth for 3 of his deployments to Iraq. Everything that he writes in his book is a true testimony of what our unit and us soldiers go through while deployed. I enjoyed every bit of this book. Thanks battle for this. It was great going down memory lane reading this book. I would recommend to anybody.
Great read.....an amazing collection of stories that will make you appreciate all military personnel and the sacrifice they have given up to serve our country.
